Old + New.

We were commissioned to design and install a plywood faced kitchen, feature wall and window seat. Alongside carefully restoring a set of 1940 Finnish furniture. Bringing a new kitchen extension to life.

A family heirloom that had been passed down through the generations needed some some care and attention.

We completely stripped back all of the pieces to raw wood, repaired any broken or chipped veneer and then re-finished the pieces using an amber Shellac finish.

We were also tasked with converting the sideboard into a bar. By designing bespoke win racks that fitted in the cupboard spaces, we were able to not alter the existing fixings. Meaning that it could be converted back to original in the future.

We worked closely with our clients to devise a suitable material pallet to compliment their existing furniture pieces. Using Poplar faced ply wood for the feature wall and bench seat added a lightness to the main dining area whilst enhancing the golden glow of their prized, newly restored, dining set.

We continued this into the kitchen to create a continuity between the spaces. Alternating the cabinet fronts between natural Poplar and Orange laminate. We upholstered the dining chairs, bench seat in an orange mix fabric to again tie in with the kitchen fronts.

We used a Foresso No-Chip in Pewter for the worktops. This offset against the cabinet fronts; whilst bringing a lightness to the top. It also matched with the floor tiles, creating a continues view from beyond the kitchen leading throughout the space to the garden.
